Blessed to Suffer
“Blessed”, as defined in the Amplified, means “Happy, Fortunate, and to be Envied” So what in the world is happy, fortunate, and enviable about suffering? No one thinks of suffering as a “happy” experience. If you were to receive a fortune cookie slip that read “You get to suffer!” you would find the nearest trash can to get rid of the curse! And who in their right mind would look at someone who is suffering and say, “Oo! I want some of that!” ? There is nothing fun or enjoyable about suffering. And yet, the oxymoronic title remains. “Blessed To Suffer” Why?
The blessedness comes in the suffering. There is a secret resting place found in the Shadow of the Shepherd. There is a rich treasure of love and security that is revealed in the Warmth of His Wings. Such a haven is discovered in the process of suffering.
All of us face different trials and painful situations. Whether it's divorce, heartache, death, loss, illness, or a myriad of other griefs and disappointments, suffering is inevitable as we walk along this journey called "life". But the impact of the blow is greatly diminished when we are immersed in the Comfort of the Comforter, basking in the Healing of the Great Physician, and enjoying the Ministry and Intercession of the High Priest.
The purpose of this blog is to bring encouragement and comfort to those who are weary in the race with and against life’s disappointments. Though my personal trials pale in comparison to many others’, I have received a wealth of the Lord’s comfort that He richly bestowed upon me in my valley, which was not intended for me alone to cherish. His sweetness and goodness is His to share with others who face their own unbearable circumstances. My prayer is that the messages you read on this blog would be received as His Word to you to bless, comfort, and strengthen you in your perseverance in faith, knowing that He Who began a good work in you will complete it until the Day of Christ Jesus. (ref. Phil 1:6)
